5 Profitable Fruit and Vegetables To Grow In Your Greenhouse

The beauty of having a greenhouse is the ability to control growing conditions whether it’s providing shelter from wind, rain, sun, shade, cold, or heat. A greenhouse can help amplify preferable growing conditions for almost any crop. Having said that, there are many different crops that can provide sizable profits if set up and selected properly. Ditch the drab grocery store produce and venture into a rewarding world of greenhouse grown profitable fruits and vegetables.

Profitable Fruits and Veggies To Grow (Plus Some Bonus Plants!)

A greenhouse full of fruits and vegetables is a dream come true for many people. With the right plants and proper care, your greenhouse can become an oasis of profitable produce. Let’s dive into some of the most profitable fruits and veggies you can start growing this year.

Blueberries

Blueberries are an excellent choice for greenhouses because they love the extra sunshine and heat that a greenhouse provides. Greenhouse grown blueberries generate a bounty of berries meaning you could either earn some extra money by selling them at a local farmers market or fruit stand or save yourself money from having to buy them at the grocery store. Some farms offer a “U-Pick” type of blueberry farm where the entire family can come pick their own blueberries, eat their “fill” while they pick and then pay for whatever they take home.

Blueberries are not only easy to grow and fun to harvest, but they’re an excellent source of Vitamin C, manganese, fiber, anthocyanins and other types of antioxidants, making blueberries a healthy and highly sought after fruit. Growing blueberries in a greenhouse could produce higher yields which could create better profits. Here is an article with 8 steps on how to grow blueberries in a greenhouse.

Kale

Kale Caesar salad is not just a trendy menu item at restaurants these days. It is a known fact that kale has higher contents of iron than beef, in a per calorie ratio along with all sorts of other vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fiber and natural probiotics. Kale is considered one of the number one superfoods sought after in food markets today. Being in such high demand, this makes kale a profitable vegetable to grow and an excellent choice for those looking for a low maintenance and easy to grow plant. Kale can be planted directly into the ground or grown in containers. It prefers fertile soil with plenty of sunshine and should be watered regularly. With regular harvesting and adequate fertilizing, kale can provide a steady supply of leafy greens throughout all four seasons! There are too many benefits to not grow kale in your greenhouse.

Beets

Beets are another highly sought after vegetable in food markets today. Not only are they delicious and nutritious, they're easy to grow and offer good potential for profit.

Beets normally require some patience when grown outdoors; however, beets grown in a greenhouse could be ready for harvest in a fraction of the time thanks to the extra heat and sunshine a greenhouse provides. They can be harvested anywhere between 3 and 6 months depending on the growing conditions and sold in bundles for both their roots and greens! Beets boast an impressive array of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and they are low on the glycemic index making them popular among health-conscious consumers, especially those with diabetes looking for natural ways to control their blood sugar.

For those looking to make profitable use of their greenhouse, selling fresh beets is one option worth considering due to its strong demand from home cooks and restaurant chefs who value quality over convenience when sourcing ingredients.

Potatoes

There are more than 4,000 potato varieties world wide with hundreds that are becoming increasingly popular among home cooks, chefs and connoisseurs alike.  Potatoes are an incredibly profitable vegetable to grow in a greenhouse. Not only are they easy to cultivate and maintain, but they have a relatively short harvest time of about three to six months, making them ideal for those looking for a quick return on their investment. In addition, with proper care and attention, potatoes can produce yields much more significant than traditional outdoor gardening methods. Growing potatoes in a greenhouse's controlled environment may offer protection against pests and diseases that would affect potato crops normally grown outdoors. This makes it easier to achieve better quality with fewer inputs such as fertilizer and water, allowing for healthier crop maintenance and profit potential.

Garlic, Onions and Shallots

Garlic, onions and shallots are another one of the most profitable vegetables you can grow in your greenhouse. They have a huge demand in food markets and you can get a good price for them. They are the first and main ingredient in many food dishes. Not only do they have a long shelf life, but they are extremely affordable to start, easy to grow and require minimal care. Onions come in all shapes and sizes, so you'll have plenty of options when it comes to selecting varieties for your garden. Plant them from seed or bulbs depending on the type — both produce delicious harvests that can be used fresh or stored for later use. In addition to their culinary uses, onions and garlic contain several medicinal properties that make them beneficial for health purposes. They can even help keep the critters and vampires out of your garden!

Bonus — Cut Flowers

While growing fruit and vegetables in a greenhouse is an excellent way to profit, don’t forget about the potential of cut flowers. Growing bright, cheerful blooms can be highly rewarding and provide another avenue to generate income. Not only do they look beautiful and add vibrant color to your greenhouse space, but they also provide pollinators with the food they need to keep pollinating your fruits and vegetables.

Cut flowers also give you an opportunity to create beautiful bouquets and centerpieces which also can be sold at a farm stand or farmers market. With careful planning and some research on what types of flowers have the highest demand in your area, you could find yourself well on your way toward becoming a successful cut flower grower from your little corner of paradise!

Some of our favorites include dahlias, peonies, irises, daffodils, lilies and tulips.

Conclusion

Owning a greenhouse has many benefits, and one of the best returns on your investment is to grow fruits, vegetables and cut flowers. You can quickly grow various crops in your greenhouse with the right precautions and knowledge of cultural practices. Utilizing your greenhouse to grow profitable fruits and vegetables is a great way to make the most of your growing space. Seed Planting Guide — Greenhouse Winter Projects To Prepare For Spring

The beginning of the year (specifically January and February) is an exciting time for gardeners! The promise of a new year and garden can be overwhelming. Most of us are guilty (at least once) of getting excited and starting a bunch of seeds without a clear plan. In a couple of weeks, dozens of plants will sit on window sills or shelves in the garage, and then reality hits. It might be too early for these plant varieties, or you need a plan for where and how to plant them.

Fret not; with some planning and tackling some winter chores first, your seed-starting adventure will bloom into reality! Read on for our seed planting guide you can start implementing right away.

Get Ready For Spring With These Greenhouse Winter Projects

There are plenty of things you can do to prepare for Spring. Here are a few greenhouse winter projects to set yourself up for success.

Make A List And Order Your Seeds

The first thing to do is to list the items you want to grow. There a 1000’s of different plants out there, and looking at a seed catalog or website can feel overwhelming. Our advice is to start simple and order the seeds of plants you eat on a regular basis.

Additionally, you want to ensure that you’re planting flowers or other plants that will actually survive the rest of the cold season and the season in which they bloom. For example, if you plant spring flowers too early, you might lose them to frost if you’re not careful or try to move them out of the greenhouse too soon.

Make A Simple Sketch Of Your Gardens Layout

Create a simple road map of how your favorite fruits and veggies will be laid out in your garden space. This is a big step because you don’t want your garden to become overwhelmed with plants you didn’t make plan enough space for.

Organize Your Seeds By When They Should Be Sown

This may sound obvious, but it is critical. The first step is to know when your last frost date is. On the back of every seed packet, the number of weeks before the frost date to be planted is called out. Organize your seeds together by these numbers. For example, everything that says it should be planted eight weeks from the last frost is put together in a bundle and labeled. Everything that says seven weeks before the frost date is bundled and labeled. Same for six weeks, five weeks, etc.

Next, pick a dedicated day of the week to start your seeds and mark this day of the week in your calendar or planner. Doing this will allow you to plant seeds at the appropriate time for that variety and your location. It takes a bit of planning, but the investment will save you hours of work down the road.

We recommend this video if you’re looking for a great tutorial to help you plan out your space, plant at the right time, and set yourself up with a reusable seed-planting guide.

Start Planting Your Seeds

There are several ways actually to start your seeds. Different varieties do better starting in different ways. So do your research and know which method your seeds will thrive in. Keep a garden journal, and make lots of notes; each year, this process will get easier and easier.

Our tip is to read the guide on your seed packets. They usually give you a good idea of the best time to plant, and they typically allow a buffer time to get your plants to grow when you want them to.

Prepare Your Planting Beds

Make sure that whatever you will be transplanting into is ready to grow plants. You may need to add compost or other amendments to get the soil as fertile as possible. You may also need to create the garden rows for direct sowing. It all depends on what you're sowing and where, but just make sure the area you plan on planting is ready for the new plants.

Install Shelves For Your Seedlings

Installing shelves or adding a shelving unit to your greenhouse is a great idea! You want to make sure you have enough space for each of your plants during each stage of the growing process. It’s a good idea to have space off the ground so that your plants stay nice and warm.

Need a Greenhouse? We’d Love To Help!

The bottom line when it comes to seed planting? Get organized, make a solid plan, and stick to it. We know all too well how very easy it is to let the excitement take over and just start planting. Don’t do it! You want your plants to thrive outside the greenhouse, and planting too early or without a solid plan can hinder your results.

We’d love to talk to you more about your future planting plans and ensure you have the best greenhouse for your area. We also have amazing accessories to equip your greenhouse. Start browsing online or give us a call at (541) 270-2911.

How to Get NRCS Financial Assistance For Your Greenhouse

Did you know that the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) provides technical and financial assistance to help farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners?

For more than eight decades, the NRCS has helped countless people make great investments to help keep working lands working, increase American agriculture, and boost rural economies. One of those ways is through their high tunnel initiative. Let’s discuss this initiative and how to get NRCS assistance for your greenhouse.

What Is NRCS Assistance and What Does It Mean For You?

The NRCS promotes the use of high tunnel systems, also known as hoop houses. In recent years, hoop-style greenhouses have become an increasingly popular conservation practice for farmers and growers, and they are eligible for financial assistance through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).

Some of the benefits that come with these high-tunnel systems are:

  • Extend the growing season

  • Improve plant quality and soil quality

  • Reduce nutrient and pesticide transportation

  • Improve air quality through reduced transportation inputs

  • Reduce energy use by providing consumers with a local source of fresh produce

Are you ready to make one of these hoop houses a part of your growing operation? Read on for our step-by-step guide to getting NRCS assistance.

Step 1 — Make A Plan

If you are a farmer or rancher who wants to improve the land you own or lease, the first step is to make a plan. To get started with NRCS, we recommend you schedule a meeting with your local NRCS field office. They can discuss your vision for your land and how they can best assist you.

NRCS provides landowners with free technical assistance or advice for their land. Standard technical assistance includes resource assessment, practice design, and resource monitoring. Your conservation planner will help determine if financial assistance is available.

Step 2 — Submit Your Application

The second step is the application process. The NRCS will walk you through how to fill out an AD 1026, ensuring a conservation plan is in place before any land is farmed (especially if that land has high erodible soils). An AD 1026 also ensures that wetland areas are formally protected. Your conservation planner will also help you meet any other eligibility certifications.

Once those two things are complete, the NRCS will work with you on the formal application, the CPA 1200. Though applications for most programs are accepted continually and year-round, they are considered for funding in specific ranking periods. So be sure to ask your NRCS district conservationists about the deadline for your ranking period to make sure your application gets submitted online.

Step 3 — Ensure Your Eligibility

Though we listed this as step three, it’s in conjunction with part two. Step three is part of the application process and is set to help determine eligibility. Here is what you need to bring with you to the local NRCS field office:

  • An official tax ID (Social Security number or an employer ID)

  • A property deed or lease agreement to show you have control of the property; and

  • A farm tract number.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a farm tract number! You can get one from USDA’s Farm Service Agency, which is typically located in the same building as your local NRCS office. But, again, you only need this tract number if you’re interested in financial assistance.

Step 4 — Check The Rank Of Your Application

Once everything is submitted, the NRCS will take a look at the applications and then rank them according to several things:

  • Local resource concerns,

  • The amount of conservation benefits your work will provide, and

  • The needs of applicants.

Step 5 — Put Your Plan In Motion

If selected, you will be asked to sign a contract for the work to be done. Once you sign this contract, you’ll be provided with standards and specifications for completing the project. You will also be given a certain amount of time to implement your proposal. As soon as the work is implemented and inspected, you’ll be paid the compensation rate for the work if it meets NRCS standards and specifications.

Step 6 — Buy Your Greenhouse!

If everything is approved, the last step is to invest in your greenhouse! There are plenty of hoop houses out there that provide tremendous benefits to farmers. Greenhouses protect your plants and crops from intense weather and allow farmers to extend their growing seasons. They can start earlier, end later, and sometimes continue growing year-round. And because high tunnels prevent overwatering with rainfall, farmers can use drip irrigation systems to deliver water and nutrients more efficiently.

Greenhouses also offer the ability to control pests and can protect from pollen and pesticide drift. In addition, a number of soil health practices can be implemented, including crop rotations, weed suppression, and more. The best thing about these high tunnels is that they help farmers produce healthy food for their communities in a way that requires much less energy and transportation inputs.

5 Alternative Uses For Small Greenhouse Kits

When you think of a greenhouse, what comes to mind? For most people, it's a space where flowers and other plants are grown. But did you know there are other uses for greenhouses besides growing flowers, tobacco, fruits, and vegetables year-round?

In the hottest and coldest months of the year, or if you’re simply looking for extra space, it’s time to get creative with your greenhouse. Here are some great ideas for turning your small greenhouse into a multi-purpose space you will love.

What To Use Your Greenhouse For (Besides Growing Plants!)

Are you not currently using your small greenhouse kit for greenery? Here are a few great alternative options to get the most out of your green space.

Chicken Coop (Known as a Hoop Coop)

Chickens are a great addition to any home garden, and a greenhouse chicken coop is a perfect way to keep them healthy and productive. Using a greenhouse as your chicken coop, you can extend the growing season for your plants, protect your chickens from bad weather, and provide them with a comfortable place to live.

Plus, a hoop coop is a great way to provide extra protection to your chickens, especially if you live in an area susceptible to predators or far too curious wildlife. Finally, a small greenhouse kit is an ideal space for your precious chickens to lay their eggs and stay warm and safe.

Yoga Studio

For workout and wellness enthusiasts, converting a part of your greenhouse into a yoga studio is exciting and heart-pumping. For some, there is something special about having a dedicated space for yoga and mindfulness that is separate from the everyday stresses of home life.

The perfect setting for yoga and meditation, a converted greenhouse space can fill you with nature's sights, smells, and feels. You can feel grounded while practicing yoga outdoors and avoid feeling chilly.

There's no need to overcomplicate things - simply rearrange your plants, so you have enough room for your yoga mat, and you're good to go. (Although, consider installing a sound system in your greenhouse if you want to go all out. This way, you can rock out while doing yoga or meditate to some soothing ambient music.)

Hobby Studio

Many people choose to use their outdoor greenhouse space as a hobby studio. This can be a great way to enjoy the outdoors while still having a place to work on your hobbies. There are many benefits to using an outdoor greenhouse as a hobby studio, including the ability to get more natural light and fresh air.

Especially when you have hobbies that tend to take over the entire house, an outdoor hobby studio in your greenhouse allows you to spread out and get into it without worrying about messing up your home. An outdoor space lets you dive into the things you love to do and leave it open if you wish.

Outdoor Dining Space

Do you love eating outdoors but hate the cold? You can turn your greenhouse into a dining area! It's a great way to use space that would otherwise go unused. When the weather outside is cold and dreary, you can enjoy a meal in your private oasis.

Consider furnishing your space with complementary pieces that reflect natural elements. For example, choose a wooden table and chairs in a Scandinavian minimalist style. Or, opt for wicker furniture and accentuate the look with lanterns, candles, and cozy blankets.

Backyard Glamping

An outdoor greenhouse makes a great glamping space in your backyard. You can use it to camp in style while still being close to nature (and your house!). It’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors without roughing it! Greenhouses offer several benefits that can make your glamping experience even more enjoyable.

For starters, greenhouses provide year-round protection from the elements. This means that you won’t have to worry about inclement weather ruining your plans. Whether it’s too hot or cold outside, you can always retreat to your oasis inside the greenhouse.

In addition, it can be a perfect escape when you want to get away without all the hassle of camping. Resources and food are just a few steps away from the house. Imagine waking up in your outdoor space to the sound of nature — birds chirping, insects buzzing — an excellent way to wake up with none of the stress!

Do you know someone who loves to garden? Then we bet they will also love a greenhouse as a gift! People who love to get their hands dirty will love the opportunity to jumpstart their growing season in their brand-new greenhouse. When properly managed, a greenhouse can be a backyard oasis that gives you fresh food and beautiful plants all year long.

The great thing about large greenhouse kits is that you don’t have to build it all yourself. Large greenhouse kits come with everything you need and require very little building experience (although a DIY attitude helps!). Let’s dive into more reasons why you should gift large greenhouse kits to your friends and family.

Why You Should Gift Large Greenhouse Kits This Year

Here are our four top reasons why you should give a large greenhouse kit as a gift this year.

Greenhouses Tell Your Friends And Family You Care

Giving your family or friends a greenhouse kit as a gift is a great way to show them how much they care. Maybe they don’t feel like they want to invest in something that big — go the extra mile. Plus, it also shows that you care about their health and well-being, giving them another avenue for sustainable means to grow more plants. The economy and supply chain is unpredictable, and a greenhouse shows that you are thinking about them and their potential needs in the future.

Large Greenhouse Kits Can Provide Amazing Health Benefits

There are many health benefits to owning a greenhouse. One of the most beneficial is that you have control over the environment, which means you can customize it to be as healthy as possible for your plants. Another great benefit is that you can grow a year-round supply of fresh fruits and vegetables, which means you’ll always have access to nutritious food. Additionally, greenhouses provide a perfect place to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors while still being protected from harsh weather conditions.

Greenhouses Are For More Than Just Plants

We might be biased, but we love greenhouses because of their versatility. Besides growing amazing plants and crops, you can do plenty of great things with the space your greenhouse provides. Here are just a few of the amazing possibilities:

Chicken Coop — Also known as a hoop coop, many people like to use their greenhouse to provide a temperature-regulated dwelling for their chickens. Hook up a door for easy entry or create a safe haven free from potential predators.

Yoga Studio —  Greenhouses make a great secluded spot to practice yoga and get away from the hustle and bustle of our house. We’ve seen people fill their greenhouses with plants, soft places to sit, yoga mats, and more to create a soothing place to practice and meditate.

Hobby Studio — Greenhouses are also great for those who have hobbies that are starting to fill up too much space in the main house. When you need a space to create and work, a hobby studio in your greenhouse might be the perfect place.

Outdoor Dining Space — If your home is feeling a little cramped, a large greenhouse can be a great place to gather your friends and family so that you can enjoy a meal or party together away from the elements. This space could be great for hosting themed events or a private party without making a mess in your house.

Large Greenhouse Kits Provide Amazing ROI

Are your loved ones all about getting the most bang for your buck? We get it! Investing in a greenhouse is a great idea because not only does it help you save money on fruits and vegetables but it could even increase the value of your property! People love the idea of having their own greenhouse, and it could greatly increase the cost of your land if you ever decide to sell.

Imagine all the money you’ll save on produce when your own little garden produces all year long, plus the gas you’ll save from skipping that trip to the grocery store.

You not only can grow your own fresh fruit and produce & cut flowers, but it allows you to increase production & practice propagation methods of plants that might require special care. With the right accessories & setup, greenhouses can also provide protection from bad weather & pests. `

A well-built and properly maintained greenhouse can extend your growing season by several months at each end. By starting plants in the late winter or early in the spring, you can have blooms earlier than those who wait to plant outdoors. You can protect frost-sensitive plants in the cooler months and have fresh produce well into autumn and winter.

When choosing a greenhouse, it is essential to consider the type of structure best suited for your needs as well as the size and location of the unit. Many different types of greenhouses are available on the market today, ranging from small cold frames to large free-standing structures complete with heaters, ventilation systems, automated watering systems & other built-in accessories. Read on as we discuss all the reasons why you should invest in a greenhouse.

5 Reasons Why You Should Invest In A Greenhouse

If you love gardening, then you know that a greenhouse can be a great addition to your garden. Greenhouses provide a stable environment for plants, allowing them to grow and thrive. Greenhouses can be as affordable or as expensive as you want, so it's important to research the different styles before making your purchase. Have you thought about owning or buying a greenhouse for yourself or a loved one? Here are some reasons why it’s the smartest investment you’ll ever make:

Peace Of Mind

One of the main benefits of owning a greenhouse is the peace of mind that comes with having a place to grow your own food. We know that with inflation, economic uncertainty, supply chain issues & threats of pandemics, having your own greenhouse will not only save you money on gas & groceries, but it will provide a space to grow whatever you want & you’ll have control over how your food is grown.

Many of our greenhouse clients have mentioned concerns about inflation increasing the cost of food. With owning your own greenhouse, you get peace of mind knowing that you'll always be in control of being able to put fresh food on your table. Additionally, studies have shown that growing your own food is good for your immune system, as it keeps you active, you’re getting healthy bacteria from the soil & growing your own fruits and vegetables organically equates to fewer chemicals found in harmful herbicides/insecticides being put into your body.

Greenhouses Provide A Controlled Growing Environment

We all know that with global warming and climate change, there is a lot of uncertainty in the weather and how seasons are going to change in the future. With the right greenhouse and accessories, you can regulate and provide consistent temperatures for your crops. That regulation can also help you control pests and potential plant diseases.

As a gardener, you know how devastating it can be when pests take control of your crops. When you plant in an open garden, large & small animals, insects, and other bugs have easier access to your plants. One of the biggest benefits of greenhouse growing is that pests have a harder time getting to your garden. Greenhouses can provide a safe and secure home for plants, which is great news if you’re worried about deer, elk, rabbits, and other animals eating them before you do.

Extend Your Growing Season and Expand Your Zone

Greenhouses offer benefits for just about everything & everyone. They are becoming more popular because they allow gardeners to grow heat-loving plants in cold climates or exotic plants that wouldn’t normally grow in that particular zone. Plants like citrus, figs, tomatoes, cucumbers, even mangos & avocados.

With a greenhouse, you can enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables all year long. No more waiting for springtime to plant your garden! Our greenhouses allow you to increase your harvest year after year and increase overall production as you have more control than you would in a typical outdoor garden.

Greenhouses Are Extremely Versatile

One of the best things about our greenhouse kits is that they offer more opportunities than simply a place for growing plants. Greenhouses are also being used as warm or dry shelters for livestock, training facilities, garages & even indoor offices! As technology continues to evolve, the benefits of owning a greenhouse will only increase.

Greenhouses Are Affordable When You Consider Your Return on Investment

When you add up all the benefits and reasons why you should invest in a greenhouse, they really are affordable when you think about your return on investment. Not only considering the money you’ll save on food but also the potential to improve your health & increase the value of your property.

Many people seeking to buy property would love a greenhouse and view the greenhouse as an added bonus, meaning there is potential added value to that property. A greenhouse can make your property more appealing to potential buyers, as it is seen as an added feature hat not all properties would there are many health benefits that come with growing your own organic fruits and vegetables.have. If the greenhouse is well-maintained, this could give you a significant advantage over other properties for sale on the market.

Though each of our kits includes almost everything you need to build an amazing greenhouse, you’ll need to source some additional materials before you get started.

  • Ground stakes that will anchor your hoops to the ground. You will find them on our Accessories page in different sizes (depending on how tall you’d like your side walls).

  • Lumber for your base frame, end wall framing, hip boards & any doors or windows you plan on installing.

  • A ventilation system could be a side roll-up system that includes hand cranks, roll up pipe and the clips to attach the plastic to the pipe. For a more controlled environment, consider purchasing a powered exhaust fan and fresh air intake. Find ventilation options here.

  • Miscellaneous hardware like deck screws and hex head bolts that are needed for bolting your base frame and hip boards, this is detailed in our Instruction Manual which we provide with your purchase.

Greenhouse Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few questions we get asked all the time about our greenhouses.

Q: How long will it take to get my greenhouse?

A: It takes roughly three to four weeks from the order date before your new greenhouse will be delivered, so start your order today!

Q: How do your greenhouses hold up in the wind and snow?

A: Our greenhouse design holds up quite well in the wind. The half-circle design is designed so that wind will roll right over it. We also use upgraded hardware to add even more strength to your greenhouse. If you live in a heavy snow area, you might need to add additional bracing.

Q: What is the best way to ventilate my greenhouse?

A: There are two options to help you ventilate your greenhouse. The first option is a side roll-up system, in which the entire greenhouse length is opened by 3 to 5 feet to allow fresh air to flow through your greenhouse. This cost-effective option also enables pollinators to access your garden easily. Hand cranks don't require power, saving you money in the long run. The one con to a roll-up system is that your greenhouse is opened up to pests.

The second option is to use powered fans and fresh air intake shutters. The pros to this system are that you have more control of your greenhouse environment and less access for pests. They can also be hooked up to thermostats and humidity sensors to automate the process. The only cons to this ventilation system are it’s a little more expensive up front and you’ll need access to electricity to hook them up.

How to Build A Greenhouse

The outline below is a simplified explanation of the process. Detailed instructions are provided with each kit. If you have any questions while setting up your kits, we are available to help.

  • Grade your site — Developing a level, flat surface on which to build your greenhouse is important. The more level your site is, the easier the rest of the construction will be.

  • Setting Ground Stakes– These are your foundation and, depending on the type of soil you have, are either pounded into the ground or cast into the concrete like a fence post.

  • Install your Hoops — To secure your greenhouse hoops in place, insert the ends of each hoop into the corresponding ground stakes. The hoops are designed to be slightly narrower than the ground stakes, and this compression adds to the structure's overall strength.

  • Attach the Purlins and Ridgepole — Using the provided hardware, fasten the purlins to the hoops.

  • Build the Base Frame — Once your metal frame is installed, use 2x6 studs to build the base frame. Avoid using pressure-treated lumber, as the chemicals used to treat the wood are toxic and can harm your garden.

  • Install the Wiggle Wire — The wiggle wire system securely attaches the plastic covering to your structure.

  • Build End Walls — Many different end wall designs are available, Take the time to find the design that best suits your needs. End walls are typically where doors and vents are placed.

  • Attach the Plastic — Make sure to do this task on a day with little to no wind. Attaching plastic in the wind will result in frustration and wasted time. Other than that, the process is quite simple and easy to follow.
